These garden beds have seen better days for sure…

This garden has seen better days!
This busted garden needs a makeover. The beds are not only showing signs of wear, some of their boards are breaking, allowing dirt and some roots to come out the sides.
Last July, hornets were stinging my two pups. We searched the yard to find the culprits, and we located a huge hornet nest in a clunky rotted-out piece of wood in the herb garden bed.
My new garden bed solution needs to be rot-proof (as much as possible), and in a different size proportion than my current beds, (6 feet by 4 feet) which for me, is not optimal for reaching across. I’m thinking of getting some of those galvanized steel beds that are so popular now. They’re rot-resistant and I think they would hold moisture in the soil rather than it escaping through porous wood.
I’m not against using repurposed things for raised beds; my backyard is home to a washing machine drum and a sawed-in-half half rain barrel now serving as planting beds.
I’ll have time to devise my garden remodel, as we will have up to a foot of snow in the yard by tomorrow evening. Winter is not over yet!
